Installing ATutor Learning CMS on your system
ATutor is an Open Source Web-based Learning Content Management System (LCMS/LMS) and social networking environment designed with accessibility and adaptability in mind. Administrators can install or update ATutor in minutes, develop custom themes to give ATutor a new look, and easily extend its functionality with feature modules. Educators can quickly assemble, package, and redistribute Web-based instructional content, easily import prepackaged content, and conduct their courses online. Students learn in an adaptive, social learning environment.
How to install atutor on your system?
Step 1 : Create you database name on your mysql. Run the Command Prompt on the start run button and type cmd. On the Command Prompt, type the command C:\>mysqladmin -u root -p create atutor and Enter root password.
Step 2 : Extract all the file that you've already download from the coppermine website into the C:\Program Files\Apache Software Foundation\Apache2.2\htdocs
Step 3: Please check again your database name exist on the mysql. Type mysql -u root -p and followed by the root password. On the mysql monitor command connection, type show databases; . The database that you created will show on the rows.
Step 4: Open your browser such as IE or Firefox or Chrome, If you are trying on your local machine, on the address please type http://localhost/atutor/. This process will step you through your ATutor installation or upgrade. During this process be sure not to use your browsers refresh or reload feature as it may complicate the installation process. Click on the Install buttol.
Step 5 : Term of use. ATutor is licensed under the terms fo the GNU GPL. Click on the I agree button to proceed next step.
Step 6 : Please enter your database information as below.
Step 7 : Installation in progress.
Step 8 : Account and preferences. Create your super administrator account is used for managing ATutor panel. The super administrator can also create additional administrators each with their own privileges and roles. Administrator accounts cannot enroll in courses.
Step 9 : Content Directory. By default it wont create this content directory automatically. You need to create this directory by your own. After creating this directory you may proceed with next button to continue installation.
Step 10 : Click next to save the configuration.
Step 11 : Anonymous Usage Collection. Click next to continue.
Step 12 : Congratulations!!!. you.ve done this installation successfully. Click on the Log-in button to go home page.
Step 13 : This is your ATutor home page. Try to login using the admin account as you create before. If you are a new user you may register by clicking on the register button on your right.
Step 14 : This is the administration control panel. You may control the modules, enrollment, users, courses, patches and system preferences. Next tutorial will be more how to manage the ATutor control panel. Enjoy using ATutor.
