Installing UseBB CMS on your system

UseBB.net is the official website of UseBB, a light and Open Source PHP 4 and MySQL based forum package, distributed freely under the GPL license. Developed with simplicity and usability in mind, UseBB is ideal for small to medium sized websites which need a clear and efficient forum package.

How to install UseBB on your system?

This is the quickstart guide for installing UseBB, aimed at people that are used to working with websites, PHP and databases.

Step 1 : Create you database name on your mysql. Create a database and a full-access database user for that database. Run the Command Prompt on the start run button and type cmd. On the Command Prompt, type the command C:\>mysqladmin -u root -p create usebb and Enter root password.

Step 2 : Extract all the file that you've already download from the usebb website into the C:\Program Files\Apache Software Foundation\Apache2.2\htdocs

Step 3: Please check again your database name exist on the mysql. Type mysql -u root -p and followed by the root password. On the mysql monitor command connection, type show databases; . The database that you created will show on the rows.

Step 4 : Rename config.php.dist to config.php. Open browser and type http://localhost/usebb/install/. UseBB Installation. This wizard will install a basic UseBB forum at your website. Therefore, we need some information from you. Please fill in all the required fields below (marked with *). If you don't know what a field means or you don't know what to fill in, please ask your web hosting company for the right values. Important: If you use MySQL 4.1 or higher, it is highly recommended to use a latin1 collation instead of a Unicode one. Should your host use Unicode as default database collation, please change this for your database using phpMyAdmin or a similar administration tool or contact your host before installing UseBB. In most cases though, no action will be necessary. This will also create an admin account for your forum. Fill in the fields below. Note a username can only contain alphanumeric characters, spaces, _ and -. The password can only contain alphanumeric characters. Start the installation when you are sure everything is filled in correctly. If you encounter a General Error, the configuration values may be wrong. Check them and restart the installation.
