Installing and setup simple machine forum (SMF) on windows

Step 1 : creating database name on the mysql. To creating new database name on mysql, click on the start run button, and type cmd to get command prompt. Type the command below, C:\>mysqladmin -u root -p create smfdb <enter> and follow by the root  password : ******* <enter>

Step 2 : Login to the mysql database to view dabatase. To login, on the command prompt, type the command below, C:\>mysql -u root -p <enter> password : ****** <enter> and follow by the root . While you already entering the database, you may check the current database by typing this command. Please see the picture below as your assist. mysql> show databases;

Step 3 : Extracting the .zip or .tar.gz file to the apache htdocs directory/folder. In order you to install the simple machine forum, you need to extract the packages to the apache htdocs directory which is c:\program files\apache software foundation\apache2.2\htdocs. You may rename the packages name as you like.

Step 4 : Filling up the database info. To make this installation successfully, you need to edit the setting.php on the smf directory/folder. Looks onto the Database Info that i've already highlight. Fill up the db_name, db_user and db_password that you've already created on the mysql on step 1. Dont forget to save it!.

Step 5 : Setup on the basic setting. Open your browser, on the address type http://localhost/smf/install.php or if you hosting your server from outside provider just type http://<your domain name>/<database name>/install.php. Fill up the forum name, forum url and check on the UTF-8 Character Set. This feature lets both database and the forum use and international character set and languages.

Step 6 : Mysql server settings.These settings to use for your Mysql server.Fill up the server name, username, password and clik on the Proceed button.

Step 7 : Creating admin account. Installer will creating a new administrator account while you installing SMF. Fill up the username, password, and email address. Installer requires you to supply the database password to create an administrator account. This is for security reasons. Click on the Finish button.

Step 8 : Deleting install.php file. To make sure the installation process is complete, check on the "click here to delete this install.php file now. (doesn't work on all servers)". YOu may see your forum site by clicking on the link "your newly installed forum. Congratulations!!YOu made it!!!.
