How to install SME Server on Linux CentOS?
SME Server (formerly known as e-smith) is a Linux distribution based on CentOS offering an operating system for computers used as web, file, email and database servers. It employs a comprehensive UI for all management-related tasks and is extensible through templates.The letters SME stand for Small to Medium Enterprise, as that is the target market of the software.The most recent version, SME Server 7.4, was released on 2008-11-21.Changes: fix GRUB label to keep consistent with the SME Server brand; introduce a web interface to configure the pseudonym 'visible' property; fix the ugly log messages (Use of uninitialized value) when spam checking results in 0 hits; emails sent to a null address without the username part are now rejected; support for sending mail to ISP via secure SMTP; enable the auth plugin for local LAN connections; migrate ordb.net from the RBL lists to prevent mail bouncing. SME Server is an open-source Linux server distribution designed to be:

Step 1
Install SME Server operating system. This application will use Linux CentOS as platform to run the application. Just put the cd and set cd as your first boot. You will see this screen. Hit <enter> to install Linux CentOS.
Step 2
CD media test. Choose Skip to skip the media test and start the installation. Hit <skip> button.
Step 3
Select language would you like to use during the installation process. Choose English and hit <ok> button.
Step 4
Keyboard Selection. Select your model keyboard is attached to you computer. Select US and hit <ok> button.
Step 5
Formatted process. All disks will be reformatted and any data will be lost. Hit <yes> button to proceed.
Step 6
Time zone selection. Select your time zone where you located in . Hit <ok> button.
Step 7
Installation process. Please be seated while the installation process begin.
Package Installation process.
Step 8
Completing installing CentOS. Congratulations, your SME server installatino is complete. Remove any installation media such as CD-ROMS used during the installation process and press <Enter> to reboot your system
Step 9
Installing SME server application. For the first time installation, select no if you wish to restore from backup. Hit <no> button to proceed installation.
Step 10
Administrator password. This is a root password which is used on the system and the application. Type your password and hit <next> button.
Step 11
Verify your administrator password.
Step 12
Primay domain name. Enter your primary domain name for your server. Hit <enter> button to proceed.
Step 13
Select your system name. Please enter the system name for your server name. Make sure you select the unique system names for each server. Hit <next> button.
Step 14
Local networking parameters. Please enter the local IP address for this server. Hit <next> button.
Step 15
Local subnet mask. Please enter the local subnet mask for this server. Hit <next> button.
Step 16
Select operation mode. For your test on the SME server you can user Server-only because it provides services to a local protected network. Hit <next> button.
Step 17
Gateway IP address. Specify the gateway IP address that this server should use to access the internet. Hit <next> button.
Step 18
DHCP server configuration. For this testing environment, choose off. Hit <next> button.
Step 19
DNS server address. Just leave it blank. The server is capable of resolving all Internet DNS names without this addiotional configuration. Hit <next> button.
Step 20
Active configuration changes. Hit <yes> button to activate your changes.
Step 21
Entering the system. Now you can login to the system and the SME application. Next tutorial will be how to operates and configure the SME server for the other domains. Now you've already successfully install the SME server application.
